Uvurkhangai province is located in the central part of Mongolia. The province has an area of 62.9000 square km and a population of 114,000 inhabitants. The administrative center is the town of Arvaikheer situated in the southern part of the Khangai Mountain Range and the town lies an altitude of 1.913 meters above the sea level, 430 km from UB.
The Khangai mountain range extends in the North-West, and the Altai mountain range stands in the south-west. Middle part is steppe and Gobi desert is located in the South of territory. In this area, the main tourist attractions are:
Kharkhorin (Kharkhorum) - Mongolian ancient city, was founded in 1220 by Chinggis king and destroyed in 1391 by Chinese troups.
Erdene Zuu monastery - was founded on the ruins of the old capital in the year 1586, surrounded by 108 stupas. In 1792, it housed 62 temples and 10.000 lamas and destroyed. Since 1964, has been working as museum temples.
Ulaan tsutgalan waterfull - 20m high and 10m width and has been considered to be one of the most famous destinations of the country regardless of its size.
Tuvkhun khiid (Tuvkhem Monastery) - it was erected in 1654, Zanabazar who was Mongolian religious and political leader created a number of his works including the famous Soyombo symbols in this monastery in the 1680s.
Naiman Nuur - beautiful 8 lakes which were created by volcanic eruptions centuries ago and is now part of the 11,500 hectare Khuisiin Naiman Nuur Natural Reserve.
