Khentii province was established in 1930 in the eastern part of Mongolia. The administrative center Undurkhaan lies 330 km from Ulaanbaatar city. The province has 19 sums /towns/ and an estimated population of 68100 inhabitants in territory of 80300 sq km. On average altitude is over 1880-2450m above sea level. The Onon and Kherlen rivers flow across this Northern Province bordering Russia. Though Khalkh people make up the majority of Khentii residents, Batshireet, Dadal, and Binder ethnic groups live in the northern soums (administrative districts).
Khentii province is famous for beautiful nature and great historical sightseeing in all over Mongolia. The territory of province is covered with tall, densely forested mountains to the north and smaller foothills to the south. The highest peak is the mountain Khentiikhan at an altitude of 2362m. Also there are over 70 rivers and numerous lakes rich of fishes. In this region, cultural, natural and historical main attractions are considered as following:
Deluun Boldog - birthplace of Chinggis khaan who was Great Emperor of Great Mongol Empire.
Khodoo aral of Kherlen - famous and significant site for its chronicle. Son of Chinggis khaan - Ogoodei khan was chosen as the king at the meeting of key people of the country.
Baldan Baraivan Monastery- one of three main cultural hubs of Mongolia prior to the Communist regime and was among the largest monasteries in the world and was home to over 3000 monks. / built in 1784 /
Rashaan Rock - numerous carvings and paintings depicting animals and humans as well as carvings of several hundred of tribal seals and around 20 scripts in Orkhon, Hidan, Arabic-Persian, Chinese, Tibetan and Mongolian languages.
Kherlen River - one of our 3 famous rivers, the Kherlen flows from the Khentii Mountains running for 1,264km and flows into the Dalai River in China.

Khuvchiin Jonon Hotel (Khentii)
The Khuvchiin Jonon Hotel is located in the center of Undurkhaan city, in front of local Government building and on the right side of State Hospital. It was built in 2006 and has 18 rooms with 3 types of rooms. These are standard, semi deluxe and deluxe. The hotel facilities are cable TV, parking place, restaurant and mini bar fridge which in the only deluxe rooms. There is also Bakery factor and mini market in the first floor.
